Celebrate the founding of Soroptimist International, a global service organization created by and for women 100 years ago in Oakland, California.  The year was 1921. At the time,  women were not permitted to join service organizations. Our name, loosely translated from the Latin, means best for women. Today, we have about 30,000 members and supporters in countries across North America, Latin America and the Pacific Rim. Soroptimist International has been serving St. Helena and its surrounding community since 1954.
