Karen will speak about her life and being a victim of sexual assault and how she uses art to overcome that experience. \nIn both her visual and literary work Karen gives expression to her Japanese cultural inheritance and her experience as a dual-culture woman. In her work\, she addresses issues of sexism\, racism\, female empowerment and social justice\, all the while maintaining a highly developed visual aesthetic and buoyant sense of creative play.
